1. What is forehead temperature?
Forehead temperature is the same temperature as the arterial blood supply under the skin. It is the best determinate of body temperature, and unaffected by the artificial errors and time delays of oral and rectal methods.
2. How to take forehead temperature properly?
Gently touch the center of the forehead with the probe. Make sure to remove anything covering the area to be measured, i.e. hair, hats or bandages.
3. Why is forehead temperature more accurate than ear temperature?
The reason ear thermometers are considered inaccurate is because the positioning of the probe in the ear canal might affect the accuracy. The forehead thermometer scans the forehead area for temperature given off by the arterial blood supply under the skin without the worry of scanning position.
Temperature measurements are also affected by the type of measurement method used. Rectal/Ear temperature is generally ½ to 1 degree higher than oral temperature and underarm temperature is generally ½ to 1 degree lower than oral temperature. Read below to see temperature ranges:

Underarm Fever Temp: 37.2oC or higher
Forhead Normal Temp: 35oC - 38oC
Forehead Fever Temp: 1.0 - 1.5 degrees higher than usual.

Oral Fever Temp: 37.6oC or higher
Rectal/Ear Normal Temp: 36.5oC - 37.9oC
Rectal/Ear Fever Temp: 38oC or higher
